Terry Dean Corlis

Terryl Corlis “Terry” was born March 11, 1948 to Robert Godwin and Helen Ream in Gladewater, Texas. After his father left to serve in the military, he lived up and down to gulf coast with his maternal grandparents, Harold and Jennie Ream.  At the age of 13, his mother married the man who adopted Terry and to whom he would refer to as his father Gaylord Corlis.  Terry moved to Albuquerque and graduated Sandia High School.  He briefly attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales before enlisting in the Marine Corps. Upon leaving the reserves he married his ex-wife Pauline and together they had a son Ryan.  Ryan was the joy of Terry’s life and often referred to him as his best friend. A contractor by trade he taught his son the trade and they worked together for the last several decades of Terry’s life. Terry was not only a proud father but an even prouder grandfather. He was blessed with 3 grandsons all that shared the same middle name as him, Dean.  He never expected a granddaughter but in 2013 he was blessed with the first girl born in his family in over 40 years. He loved his grandchildren and made  amazing memories with them every chance he had. Terry was a contractor in Albuquerque since the late 60’s and won many awards for his designs both here in Albuquerque and in Arizona. He was a Cowboys fan and got to see them win on Sunday night. He enjoyed traveling, one of his favorite places was Hawaii, and being with his family. He is survived by his son Ryan and wife Lesley; 4 grandchildren, Tyler (19), Connor (13), Gabriel (11) and Tessa (8); as well Tyler’s mother, Lori Johnson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Gaylord Corlis; as well as his biological father Robert Godwin and stepmother Norma; grandparents Harold and Jennie Ream.

Services will be held Saturday, November 27, 2021, 2:00pm, Daniels Family Funeral Services - Southern Chapel, 2400 Southern Blvd. SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
