Vera Gurule

Vera Gurule, age 75, our beloved mother, spouse, sister, aunt, friend and caregiver was called home to the Lord on April 17, 2021. She was born on September 2, 1945 to John and Irene Montoya.

A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, Vera dedicated her life to helping others; as an OR nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital, a childcare provider at her home daycare, a caregiver to adults with disabilities and anyone needing a helping hand. She truly enjoyed helping others who were blessed to know her.

Vera lived each day to the fullest, she loved going to the casino, listening to country and Mariachi music, dancing and hosting parties at Coyote Run in the mountains.

She was the most loving mother and leaves behind her only child, her beloved daughter, Lisa Marie and son-in-law Jason Montano. She is also survived by her spouse Lidio Holguin; twin sister, Vicky Baca (Henry); sister, Gloria Droelle; brother, Fred Montoya (Grace); as well as countless nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 5 at 10 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave NE. Interment to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd NE. A bereavement reception will not be held due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Vera was loved by many and will be greatly missed but she will always hold a special place in everyone’s heart of those whose lives she touched.
