Zachariah Antonio Montoya

April 25, 1995 — February 6, 2020

Zachariah Antonio Montoya was born on April 25, 1995 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Zach was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer in November 2018 at the young age of 23. He fought hard and kept his hopes high never giving up. On February 6, 2020, after giving it his all and pushing to great lengths, never stopping his search for new treatments, Zach passed away with his family by his side. Zachariah is preceded in death by his sister Antoinette Montoya and Grandmother Isabel Chacon, leaving behind mother Bernadette Montoya, younger sister Angelique Montoya and dad Jake Rosas as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends from all around. Zach graduated high school from N.A.C.A and studied at CNM. He wanted to go into computer programming to create video games. He had learned how to code while taking classes and learning on his own. Working for county housing full time during the summer. Zach saved up and created his own Computer system. Zach had many passions in life and expressed himself through drawing. His favorite thing to do was play video games on steam and make friends. Zach often spent his time going to the Road Runner food bank putting together boxes of food for those in need. He would volunteer at a farm to help with anything they needed. He would feed animals, water plants and helped build a chicken coup. Once he got sick he focused more on how he wanted to do things for others. He wanted to be of use to others, help others, and do something meaningful. Staff at the hospital loved him, he was always cracking jokes and making them laugh, always being positive and smiling. He was always more concerned about others rather than himself. He had his good days and his bad but all throughout his focus was the appreciation he had for his mom. That was Antonio, as his family called him, always thinking of others. His loss will have a tremendous impact on family and friends. He cannot be replaced but will be missed. He meant a lot to so many and didn't deserve to go through everything that he did. Rosary to be recited on Friday, February 14, 2020, at 8:30 am at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro, New Mexico.
