Charles R. Williams

January 7, 1945 ~ February 10, 2021 (age 76)

Obituary

Charles R. Williams passed away at his home in the early morning of February 10, 2021 at the age of 76, in Albuquerque, NM.  Charles was born in Vancouver, Washington, January 7, 1945. Later in 1945, his family relocated back to New Mexico, where he resided for the rest of his life, proudly graduating from Valley High School.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ruth and E.F. Williams, brother Lester, and his sister Wanda.   He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah, his children, Melanie, Sheri, Philip and Kathryn and four beautiful grandchildren, Jonathan, Jack, Max, and Michael. Charles came from a very large loving family, including his siblings, Esther, Jim, David, Hugh, Ron, Don and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Charles was the owner of Chardans Mechanical (CMI) in Albuquerque for nearly 50 years and was very successful in business, providing boiler services throughout New Mexico. He started a Boiler Safety Association to provide support for the boiler makers in Albuquerque, and remained active, providing training to local and regional contractors in the boiler business.  He believed in community service, and supported organizations including the Elks Lodge, Kiwanis International, Lions Club International, Children’s Grief Center, and most recently the Rio Grande Chapter of the Rotary Club.

Charles loved the outdoors, including camping, hunting, fishing, skiing, and boating and would never turn down a round of golf. He was an excellent country western dancer, where he met his wife Deborah at the Caravan in 2003. He lived life to the fullest and traveled all over the world, including Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Europe, Thailand, numerous fishing trips to Alaska, poker excursions to Las Vegas, NV, and road trips throughout the United States. He rooted for the Cowboys (for better or worse) on Sundays and enjoyed playing poker during his free time, becoming a regular at the casinos in Albuquerque.

Charles’ love for his family, friends, and community was apparent to all those who knew him. He was a terrific father, loving husband, proud grandfather and friend to so many.  He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Children’s Grief Center of New Mexico (childrensgrief.org) to honor Charles’ life.
